Walktober ~ National Walking Month

WalktoberOctober is national Walking Month!!  October is National Walking Month — It’s a beautiful time of year.  The temperatures are cooling down and the colors are absolutely beautiful!!  Make the best of the month and walk all month long.  This awesome campaign is to get you up and get you moving.  Inspire others to do the same.  Make walking a priority this month.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, physical activity such as walking can help:

  • Reduce the risk of dying from coronary heart disease and of developing high blood pressure, colon cancer and diabetes.
  • Reduce blood pressure in some people with hypertension.
  • Control weight, develop lean muscle and reduce body fat.
  • Maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints.
  • Reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and fosters improvements in mood and feelings of well-being.

So “Get Up and Get Moving” and feel great during Walktober and beyond!!
